Beautiful Chard. . .

. . . is one vegetable that is now in season as well as one that graces many different spots on our farm.

Did you know that Swiss Chard is related to Spinach and Beets, is a staple in the Mediterranean diet and is on the list of Super-Foods?  Swiss Chard is a super food because of the amount of vitamins, nutrients and antioxidant protection it has.  Harvard researchers say chard contains lutein and zeaxanthin which are chemicals knowns as carotenoids.  Carotenoids protect your retinas from the damage of aging.

Swiss Chard provides huge amounts of Vitamin C which boosts immune system support.  Vitamin E is also found in this super-food.  Vitamin E is great for the skin as well as it provides anti-inflammatory support. Another benefit of chard is that it's full of fiber and fiber helps reduce Cholesterol.

Beautiful Swiss Chard is a superfood for your skin. Check this out.

So, this Tuesday, come to our market at the farm and purchase your fresh picked Swiss Chard.  Here's one of my favorite ways to prepare Swiss Chard.
