Greetings! It's Friday and I'm hustling about preparing to make two batches of our salted goat milk caramel to take care of Valentines day. And, Nancy's clearly getting ready to have her babies....here's hoping for some delightful spotted - dotted - sparkly doelings (girls).
It's also the first Friday - where at 6 pm our farm and the HSM will be closed until Sunday morning after 8:30 am. It also means that we have NO more Saturday morning market. That means you can shop our vintage market with incredible organically grown produce, eggs, honey, goat milk and goat cheese, breads, caramels AND goat milk fudge and herbs on Thursdays from 8:30 until noon. I explained the reasons why here.
HSM
I thought I'd take the opportunity to explain a bit further the question: What IS the HSM?
HSM stands for an Honor System Market. It means that IF you are a Member of The Simple Farm - you can shop our market for your needs from Sunday morning until Friday at 6 pm. If you're NOT a member - we welcome you on Thursdays French Cafe' and Market.
So, how do you become a Member of The Simple Farm? The best/only way is to come to talk to me, Lylah, at the Thursday morning market.

Sale Barn - Dairy Goat Herd Sire Available Now
This little guy sold today - Thursday, January 31st. He's going to make an amazing herd sire at his new farm. . . and we couldn't be more thrilled! |
Samson and Lavenders Son - Noah |
Every herd owner has to constantly evaluate their herd and management and the realities of NOT keeping every baby goat born to their farm or ranch. That's the toughest part for us....because every single one of this season's buckling and doelings born to The Simple Farm have been and will be amazing - with incredible lineage and thus incredible possibilities.
Alas, we have decided to not retain this most adorable, splashy, flashy buckling, Noah - with spectacular linage.
His sire - Crow's Dairy Be Not Led Astray - N 001615828 (PB Buck). AKA Samson out of Six M Galaxy Noel's Comet. If you know anything about Comet - you know you're adding specialness as well as the potential for incredible milk production out of the kids Noah will sire.
His dam - Black Mesa Lea's Lavender - 11 * M LA 90 EVEE N001351076 (PB Doe SG) -
Lavender is a hand milkers dream. Her udder and teat placement are perfect. You can read more about Lavender and thus the potential of this little guy here at Black Mesa Ranch website.
Our herd is CAE negative, CL free, G6S Normal and negative for Brucellosis, TB and Mycoplasma. Please contact Lylah or call (480) 206.7821 for more .information.
Price: $400 (breeding rights retained) including registration application (Noah's name can be changed). Noah LOVES the bottle!
